| Physical Education. Seventh &
eighth graders participate in regular physical education instruction
four days a week. Physical education class includes instruction in
basic physical fitness, as well as skill instruction in a variety of
sports. This year’s physical education instructor is Mr. John Kaplan. |

| Music. Seventh & eighth graders
have the option of participating in advanced band or choir. Students
who wish to participate in both must have clearance from their homeroom
teacher. Music classes take place two days a week. This year’s music
instructor is Mr. Douglas Knecht. |

| Woodworking. Eighth graders are
privileged to have the opportunity to participate in a woodworking
class on Fridays. Students spend 1 1/2 hours each Friday for 10-15
weeks (depending on the project they choose) creating a woodworking
project. The class is taught by two volunteer woodworking craftsmen who
have shared their woodworking expertise with Miramonte students for ten
years. |

| Study Hall. On the remaining two
days of the week when students are not in music, eighth graders have
the opportunity to use the computer lab to complete projects or do
research. Students may also work on regular homework during the study
hall class period if they do not need the computer lab. |
School Newsletter. The school
produces a weekly newsletter called The Mainspring. It is
available on the main homepage of the Miramonte School site. |
| Progress Reports.
All parents have instant access to their students’ grades through the
RenWeb site. If you need more information or a password, please contact
the office. Mrs. Sato also sends home a periodic progress reports with
each of the eighth graders. The progress reports include a summary of
the student’s grades and a list of missing work. |
Classroom Newsletter.
Mrs. Sato produces a weekly classroom newsletter which is emailed to
parents each Monday. |
